Experience - Preferred, but not a requirement as quality instruction is provided by ARD Instructors.

Equipment - The type of equipment used while learning is as important as what your learning. It's very difficult to learn to play correctly when not using the correct gear. Because of this, the ARD requires that all members use the same equipment to ensure consistency throughout the Drumline.

• Snare Sticks: Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon and Ralph Hardimon Jr Snare Sticks
• Bass Mallets: Vic Firth Corpsmaster MB Series Bass Mallets (Varying sizes depending on size of bass drum played)
• Tenor Sticks: Vic Firth Scott Johnson 'Vega' Tenor Mallets.
• Practice Pads: You may supply your own practice pad or purchase one from the ARD.

Much of this equipment cannot be purchased from local music stores and is imported by the ARD specifically for this style of Drum Corps. These items can be purchased from the ARD at a considerable discount.

• Performance Equipment: All performance equipment is owned and supplied by the ARD.
• You are expected to provide your own method for carrying your practice gear and music.
• Good solid shoes are to be worn to practices as you will be expected to be moving, often on uneven ground.

Cost - The Drumline currently provides free tuition to all members. A joining fee and annual registration cost is required.

Commitment - Please be aware that the Drumline requires a significant commitment of time for attending practices as well as a requirement to practice at home in your own time. All practices must be attended unless good reason is provided. Tutored lessons are held several nights per week and all members are expected to attend scheduled performances regardless of their playing position.
